I take an idea to a working product — every layer of it.

I'm Flavius Condurache, and Orion Technologies is my consultancy — one engineer, working from the PCB up: boards etched in-house, firmware, software, and the infrastructure and security that take a product to production. Companies hire that range as consulting; live-sound engineers get it as products.

Where this started.

As a child I promised myself that one day I would take an idea through to a working gadget — not a drawing of it, not my part of it, the thing itself.

I learned what that took: design, 3D modelling, circuit boards I could etch myself, the firmware on them, the software around them, and the infrastructure underneath.

Orion Technologies is that, as a company. The consulting and the products on this page are the same range, sold two ways.

While I was a student, I also taught at my college: Arduino and robotics.

01 End to end

Five stages, no hand-offs.

Between a sketch and a shipped product there are usually several hand-offs: to a mechanical designer, an electronics engineer, a firmware developer, a software team. I do each of those jobs myself. This is the chain, with the tools I use at each stage.

  1. Design

    Photoshop · Illustrator

The idea drawn until it is specific: interface, artwork, how it will look.

  2. 3D design & rendering

    Fusion 360 · 3DS Max with V-Ray and Corona

Modelled and rendered before anything is cut or printed.

  3. Hardware & PCB

Eagle · CNC copper etching · resin 3D printing

Laid out, etched and assembled in-house, through to a working board.

  4. Firmware

    Embedded programming

The code that runs on the board.

  5. Software

    Web · mobile · backend · automation

Applications and services, and the pipelines, infrastructure and security that put them into production.

Design & 3D
Photoshop, Illustrator, Fusion 360, 3DS Max with V-Ray and Corona.
02 Practice

Four disciplines, one engineer.

In most organisations DevOps, cloud architecture, security and networking are four teams with four backlogs. In production they are one system, and it fails at the seams between them. I take all four as one scope.

  • DevOps

Delivery pipelines, build and release engineering, container platforms, infrastructure as code, observability. The path from a merged commit to a running service, made repeatable and uneventful.

  • Cloud & infrastructure architecture

Design and review of the platforms software runs on, cloud or on-premises: compute, storage, data, resilience and cost. Migrations planned in full before anything moves.

  • Security

Hardening from the network edge to the container: exposure reduction, secrets and access management, monitoring and incident response — starting with a review of what is already running.

  • Networking

Routing, segmentation, VPNs, firewalls, DNS and TLS. Cisco CCNA-certified.

Current engagement

I am Head of DevOps & Security at DrCarmen, as an external consultant through Orion Technologies; DrCarmen is the client. I am responsible for how DrCarmen's software reaches production, the infrastructure it runs on, and the security of both.

Engagement formats

Ongoing role
A lead role held as an external consultant, with standing responsibility for delivery, infrastructure and security. The current engagement is one.
Scoped work
An architecture review, a migration, a hardening pass, a network redesign: fixed scope, written deliverables, an end date.
03 Products

Two products of my own.

Both are tools for live sound, built around the Behringer WING. A product has to work on other people's hardware, in the middle of a show, with nobody from Orion in the room.

Waves eMotion LV1 × Behringer WING

Gives Waves eMotion LV1 live, bidirectional preamp control of a Behringer WING — gain and phantom power on LV1's own channel strips — through an injected SoundGrid IO-module.

A Windows module inside LV1, a dashboard, and a licensing service behind it.

Behringer WING X-Live

X-Live Editor

A tool for working with X-Live multitrack SD-card recordings from a Behringer WING: load a card, play it back as the console does, export per song or per channel.
